Budget Dating is Fine

I've just came back from a trip to Genting Highlands about 2 days ago with monkey and his family members, and it kinda got me thinking quite a lot about that whole place, our vacations there and what we did.

So... Yeah I made this blog post.

I think monkey and I has always been somewhat frugal when it comes to our expenditures, even from early in the relationship which most would refer to as the 'honeymoon stage'.

When the relationship first started, he'd come to the university I was studying in and hang out with me at a mall nearby. Maybe we'd watch a movie, or maybe we would just be walking around looking at random things; Well, that was when we actually bothered going out.

We walked around the park near his house, window-shopped at malls near us, went to the night market and visited the zoo. On some special days, we'd head to a cafe near the university and have a slice of cake.

Our vacations were always at Genting Highlands (still are!) and we picked rooms and dates with cheaper rates for it. We might get a packet of Famous Amos cookies - relatively a form of luxury for us when we go there - but that would be it. Dinner would most likely be from McDonald's or just some cup noodles.

If we felt like it, we would head downhill a little and get some of that delicious curry from that Raub Curry place at Gohtong Jaya. Then, we would sit on the hotel floor or any other available surfaces in the room and eat our chicken curry with plain rice.

As simple as these vacations sound - nothing fancy at all if you think about it - it's really quite an experience.

Budget dating ain't all that bad, y'know?

These vacations are when it's just the two of us, no responsibilities for the next day or two, and we can sleep for the entire day to catch up on all the rest we needed in a chilly room.

Because Genting Highlands is a common childhood holiday destination for both of us, this place brings lots of memories and, well, in a sense, peace. It feels peaceful.

Our phones would be safely tucked away in our pockets when we head out for walks around the area, except for when we want to take a few pictures to keep as memories.

We focus only on each other and what's going on around us - nothing on the screen that is so often around us.

Even if it's just a simple, frugal meal and we are not celebrating anything special in a 5-star fine dining area, it's as good as it gets.

There we only enjoy each other's company, talk about things on our minds, cuddle up to each other -that's always the best part - and we basically get pampered by each other.

It's quality time spent together.

What's not to love about that?
